What does an octopus do when it encounters a discarded car battery resting on the ocean floor? Move in, of course! The wonderful article linked below describes the surprising finds from an ocean trash pickup led by the Central Coast Aquarium in California. Divers pulled up over 900 pounds of undersea trash from the beach and ocean along with some surprising sea dwellers. This year, the forty clean-up divers retrieved a discarded car battery that turned out to be an apartment house for three octopuses and a discarded plastic pipe that had been turned into a cephalopod home.
